The Rise of the Novice Expert: Reclaiming Your Power in Wellness

April 24, 20253 min read

There’s a quiet shift happening in women’s wellness—one that’s powerful, necessary, and long overdue.

It’s the shift from passively following what we’re told…

To actively participate in how we care for our bodies.

From feeling like we’re always behind…

To realize we’re actually in the process of becoming.

Welcome to the era of the novice expert—a woman who doesn’t have all the answers yet, but is no longer willing to ignore the questions.

So, what exactly is a novice expert?

A novice expert is a woman who says:

  • “I don’t know everything, but I’m ready to learn.”

  • “I want to feel better, and I’m willing to do my part.”

  • “I want a guide who walks with me, not ahead of me.”

She’s not waiting to be perfect before she starts.

She’s not looking for someone to take over.

She wants someone who will teach her, support her, and respect her voice.

In natural medicine, this is the heart of what we do.

The word "Docere" (the root of doctor) means “to teach.”

Not to preach.

Not to dominate.

Not to dazzle with jargon.

But to teach—so that those we serve can rise in understanding and ownership of their health.

That’s what real empowerment looks like.

It’s not about handing over your body to someone with letters behind their name.

It’s about walking with someone who sees your body as wise, and who helps you unlock the language it’s been speaking all along.

You don’t need to wait for a diagnosis to start caring for yourself.

You don’t need to be falling apart before seeking help.

You don’t have to “earn” wellness by burning out first.

All you need is:

  • A willingness to start.

  • A practitioner who honors your journey.

  • A system that puts you back in the driver’s seat.

And that’s what we’re creating here.

The truth? I’m a novice expert too.

Yes, I’m trained. I’m certified. I’ve studied and studied some more.

But I’m also still learning—from my clients, from my own body, and from the sacred unfolding of life.

Behind the scenes, I’m expanding Elevate in ways that feel deeply personal to me.

I’ve returned to school—not just for one new credential, but for three. I’m currently pursuing a tri-doctorate in Natural Medicine, Holistic Nutrition, and Functional Medicine. At the same time, I’m walking the path of midwifery, training through a program that honors the deep roots and possibilities of woman-led care.

Why?

Because I want to help women on a deeper level than ever before.

Because I believe we can live full, vibrant, present lives—free from the silent suffering we’ve normalized for far too long.

Because I’ve seen what happens when we don’t.

My mother passed away at 60. And while I trust the sovereignty of God, I carry a quiet ache that some of her struggles could have been supported differently.

That maybe, just maybe, her quality of life—her energy, her peace, her ability to show up for herself and those she loved—could’ve been better.

That ache fuels me. It reminds me why I do this work.

Not to be a fixer. Not to be the hero.

But to stand beside women like you, and say: “There’s still time. Let’s make the rest of your life deeply well-lived.”

Here’s what I believe:

You are wise, even if you’ve never been told that.

You are capable, even if you feel overwhelmed.

You are not behind.

You are becoming.

So the next time you hear that voice whispering,

“There has to be a better way…”

Know that it’s not just a whisper.

It’s an invitation.

An invitation to rise.

To reclaim.

To begin.

Not as a finished product.

But as a novice expert—in your health, your wellness, and your life.

Ready to step into the driver’s seat of your wellness journey?

Let’s begin together—with a framework that teaches you to listen to your body, nourish your mind, and rebuild your health from the inside out.

I look forward to joining you on this journey and learning alongside you.
